Choosing between a Class A and Class C RV can be complicated without knowing what differentiates the two. In one of their first similarities we also find one of their major differences. While you can find a gas or diesel version of both the A and C class, there is a sacrifice you make in relation to MPG, with a Class C winning this category. The class C is more fuel efficient as a direct consequence of their smaller size. While a Class C, in general, can still fit at minimum three people, there is less outside storage available, making it a lighter model hence the fuel economy.
The Class A’s fuel inefficiency is not an issue for those looking for a weekend drive, while a Class C tends to be the choice of the coast-to-coast traveler. Many national parks also limit the size of RV that can be used for camping, limiting the class A’s versatility. The class C model is also easier to maneuver on the open road thanks to this smaller size. Both models offer a full bath, but as can be predicted the Class A offers more amenities overall. The class C offers a bedroom, living room, kitchen and bathroom while the A contains the aforementioned along with a full refrigerator, laundry unit and master bedroom.
As one can imagine, the Class A comes at a premium price due to its larger size, storage capabilities and amenities. Ranging from around fifty-thousand to five hundred thousand dollars, the Class A truly is luxury on wheels. The class C only costs between forty-five to two-hundred thousand, with both class prices ranging due to various customizable add-ons. In summary, both categories of RV will put you on the road, the question is simply how you get there, economically or in style?
